Des Plaines Office Equipment honored

ELK GROVE VILLAGE—Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE) has received the 2007 Elite Dealer Award from Office Dealer, a national monthly industry publication. DPOE was chosen as one of the 50 top independent office equipment dealers in the United States, from more than 3,000 dealers nominated. Office Dealer selects winners on the basis of dealership growth, marketing innovations, community involvement, and overall marketplace excellence.

Global Emergency Products recognized

AURORA—Global Emergency Products has received the “Level #1” award for both sales and service from Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton, Wis. This distinction is based on a world class standing for sales, marketing, contract management, business systems, warranty administration, technical service and service technician training.

Lannert Group honored

GENEVA--The Lannert Group has received the 2007 President’s Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in the commercial design category. The firm was recognized for its work on Midwest Groundcovers headquarters in St. Charles. The project was the first commercial enterprise to be developed under Kane County’s newly developed storm water ordinance.

Prime Graphics acquires Print Flex

WOOD DALE—Prime Graphics, Inc., a provider of decorative packaging solutions, has acquired Print Flex, Inc., a privately-held flexographic printer and packaging converter in Bensenville. The transaction is a strategic acquisition of a complementary business in the packaging sector, effectively doubling Prime Graphics’ capacity and. Print Flex’s operational, customer support, and sales personnel have relocated to Prime Graphic’s Wood Dale facility. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Copresco marks 20 years

CAROL STREAM—Digital printer Copresco, which opened its doors on Oct. 19, 1987—a day known as “Black Monday” in financial circles when the stock market dropped precipitously—has rebounded from that inauspicious start and is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

WCC recognized

SUGAR GROVE—Waubonsee Community College has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the eighth consecutive year. The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Waubonsee is one of 60 colleges and universities to receive this award nationwide.

Employment Law Handbook now available

SPRINGFIELD—The Illinois Employment Law Handbook, a valuable resource for Illinois businesses, is now available through the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. The new publication provides 600 pages of text that explain everything employers need to know in order to stay in compliance with state and federal employment laws.

Odeum marks 25 years

VILLA PARK-The Odeum Convention Sports & Expo Center has observed its 25th anniversary.

Openings

NAPERVILLE—Sport Clips has opened at 2728 W. 75th Street. The hair care franchise has more than 400 stores nationwide and officials plan to open 15 more stores in the Chicago area in 2008.

NAPERVILLE—FedEx Kinko’s and Print Center has opened at 1979 McDowell Road, Suite 105. This center is part of the company’s expansion plan to open 320 new locations worldwide by June 2008.
